How to make him stop smoking!!!? -

How to make him stop smoking!!!? -

My friend is smoking and I tears me apart seeing him smoke.
He tried quitting, and I wanna help him stop.

WHAT TO DO?!?!?A non-smoker like yourself is never going to understand exactly what it-s like to quit smoking. The only 2 substances on earth that are more addicting than nicotine are heroin and cocaine. It is going to take a lot of time and effort on his part to quit, and please don-t harrass him about smoking. In fact, don-t even talk about smoking to him. It will just make him angry. And you don-t wanna know how angry a smoker without his smokes can get.Okay well it is very hard to stop. But this seriously works give your friend a glass of milk then after get them to have a smoke and the milk will make it have sour yuckky after taste and when he goes for another smoke he wont want to because of the last taste and keep getting them to drink a glass of milk before smoking it helps them to stop craving smokes. Hope i helped XxX if gou need anymore advice just email me.It-s his choice and unless he TRULY wants to stop he won-t.

Sorry to sound harsh but its nothing to do with you - he knows the risks and its only himself he is harming. It-s his choice

LOL @ milk suggestion. I used to wake up and have a ciggie followed by a glass of milk every morningPeople can threaten all they want it all boils down to the fact that he has to want to stop smoking. Non-smokers sometimes just can not understand how addictive cigarettes are. There is a new prescription drug that worked for me (I had tried everything). He should discuss with his doctor the medicine called chantix. It worked for me and I-ve been off for 9 months. But again I warn the medicine will not work unless he also wants to stop smoking.

You might point out that his kisses, clothes and hair smell and taste like an ashtray. lolHi,
Its very hard to get a smoker to quit. I would suggest buying Alan Carr-s Easyway to Stop Smoking book. It helped me so much. Tell him he is supposed to keep smoking while reading this will help him actually read it. He has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Also never ever tell him failing is OK, always be harsh because he will use your kindness to justify continuing like I did for years and years. To be really kind u must be cruel and make it clear he can quit and he is being weak millions of people have who are no different to him. My real friends and family always let me know how much they hated me killing myself and I now appreciate their badgering!

Also visit www.whyquit.org it is a fantastic web site that explains addiction and how to beat itYou cant stop smoking That easy just telling him isnt going to help it goes through one ear and out the other. He-s not going to stop unless he really wants tooyou can-t make him stop he need to want to stop himselfhe has to do it his own

ok i have been smoking for all most a year and i really want to stop are there any tricks that i need to no to help me stopCool Kid, I wrote these tips for a long time smoker.

Your question leads me to believe that your are addicted, too.

Read through my suggestions and use what applies.
Quit smoking guide

You must keep quitting; it will likely take more than one try. You have an addiction.

Here are some things that worked for me. Set the stage. Develop some smoke free situations in your life.

One of my biggest assets was that I had never allowed myself to smoke while working or playing at the computer.

Quit smoking in various places. I quit smoking in the car first. My work place became off limits for smoking.
I quit smoking in the bathroom. I finally got to the point where I had only one place to smoke.

You say that patches do not work for you... They will but not if you try to follow the direction on the box.
We are addicts and it will take longer for each stage ....
Do not rush yourself... this is a matter of life and death ... literally!!!!!!!

Do not worry about gaining weight while quitting...
You can lose the weight later.

Avoid situations, which trigger the craving for cigarettes...for many there
is an association between cigarettes and alcohol. My big trigger is writing essay and theme papers .... I had to quit doing any college course work for several years.

I thought I would need to give up coffee. It turns out that having 2 cups of double strength coffee every morning really helped me.

When you have set the stage.... try those patches again.... be prepared to let each stage of use last several weeks longer than noted on the box.

I threw away the chair where I usually smoked.

I started using the patches... I got a hand held massager and used it on my back and legs at times when I normally smoked. This was just to keep my hands busy and think of something else.

MY SON gave me a great Christmas present.... it was the old 2-D lemmings game..... I played lemmings on the computer instead of smoking;

I found that cheese puffs and ice cream bars helped when nothing else would help. I gained over 40 pounds; I have lost that plus 10 more....

When I was finally ready to give up the patches, I had great luck. (The cigarettes had helped manage much of my joint pain) I was taking too many pain pills ... my niece had read something about SAM-e and suggested I try it for my joint pain. I did and the SAM-e helped me with the joint pain AND I was able to give up that last little nicotine patch....

If you slip and have one cigarette.... that is no big deal... write it down on the calendar and vow or promise your self to do better.... no a.. kicking yourself.... just try again this is hard but you can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Smoking - Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

I have not smoked a cigarette for over12 years, the secret is to keep on quitting and quit again (learn from each experience) and quit again if you need too.

Hope this helps. !!!!!!Well usually replace it with something like gum or suckers, also its nice to ahve someone to talk to when you have a cravign and when people smoke around u ask them nicely to go away cause that will just make the temptation worse. You won-t quit unless you really mean it and you will need something to assist you with your quitting, like Nicorette gum or patches. But don-t even try to begin unless your mind is definitely made up. Cheers and good luck.Make a conscious decision to quit. Until you do that, there is nothing that will help. All the patches, pills, gums, laser treatments, acupuncture, et al will do nothing except separate you from your money. Once your mind has decided to quit, your body will go along.dont stop! its not worth it...

smoking is too good to be given up!This was my method after smoking for 10 years,

Allow yourself a cigarette ONLY on the hour. If you miss it for any reason, to bad you have to wait till the next hour.

Do this for a week. Then Move it to every two hours. The object is to wean yourself off.

Since presently smoking is more broken up, morning, breaks, lunch, break and end of day. You could try having only short cigarettes, then skip breaks, then skip lunch, then morning or evening. Until you stop.

Mouth breathing when you want one worked well for me. I did it until the craving was gone.

Good Luck.i also have an uncle and curious hes a doctor and he smokes so after 29 yrs of smoking he decides that is the time to end up this awful time....and he buy-ed those pills that are cost 500$ but they really work....sry i don-t remember the name of it but u could chew gum, stop buyin cigarettes, live with someone that is non smoker and the best thing to do is go to the doctor or pharmacy they really do magic sometimes...they can help u trully ...good luck!Try to avoid people who smoke. And if you-re a regular smoker(chain) then you MUST not smoke before/after meals, just before going to bed and right after you wake up, or on the pot. These are the 5 lethal smokes. So you can work upward progressively. Eg. Try to quit the morning/ night ones first. Then target the mealtime ones and so on. If you can kick the mealtime and bathroom smokes then the rest is not difficult. Whenever u have idle time.. pick up a book. Call a friend. Just don-t reach for a smoke. And yeah talking to other people who have quit or are trying to definitely helps. And also as someone else mentioned chewing gum etc definitely helps. All the BestWell if you smoke cigarettes then your a ******** who needs to stop but if you smoke weed man keep smokin that shizz. If you decide to quit, just quit it. that-s the only trick and believe me it-s not that difficultHow about some will power. The guy who said that about weed is really ignorant. Weed does more damage than cigarettes. The patch was most helpful to me. They have pills. I-m allergic to them. However, I-ve been told they work great. People say hypnotism is a temporary thing. No matter which way you do it. It still requires will power. You have not been smoking long. It should be easier for you. GL P.S. It has been said that people who exercise are more successful.Contact the Quitline and join a Quit Smoking Clinic. To my shame I used to be a chain smoker 4 packs a day ,sometimes plus

I think that you have to decide for yourself what you REALLY want.
When I decided that I would definately TRY, I did not say I would never smoke again, I felt that would frighten my psyche too much. I told myself that I could smoke if I wanted but I did not want to at the moment.
I used patches and for a few days the cigarette holder things just for something to do with my hands.

I really hated paying as much for patches as for cigarettes so I did it in less time than it says . I found the patches really helped me.

They are definately worth a try for anyone because I was one of the heaviest smokers imaginable.

I must reiterate. YOU must really want to stop smoking , not for anyone else but for yourself and your own reasons.

Good Luck and I hope my experience may help a little.

Get the Facts
Easyway, founded by Allen Carr in 1983, has the highest independently verified 12-month success rate (75.8% for a smoker completing the program) of any quit smoking technique and a 90% satisfaction rating.

Compare Easyway to other methods and see for yourself why Easyway is called “The Cadillac of quit smoking methods.”

The Allen Carr Method
HOW THE METHOD WORKS

Using psychotherapy, the method works in the opposite way to the “willpower” method. It does not concentrate on the reasons the smoker should not smoke : the money, the slavery, the health risks and the stigma. Smokers know all that already. Instead it focuses on why smokers continue to smoke in spite of the obvious disadvantages.

It is fear that keeps smokers hooked!

Fear the smoker will have to give up their pleasure or crutch. Fear the smoker will be unable to enjoy life or handle stress. Fear the smoker will have to go through an awful trauma to get free. Fear the smoker will never get completely free from the craving.

The Method removes these fears
Smokers quit with the Allen Carr Method as happy non-smokers, not feeling deprived but with a huge sense of relief and elation that they have finally achieved what they always wanted….

TO BE FREE!

What about the terrible withdrawal pangs from nicotine?

The physical withdrawal from nicotine is so slight that most smokers don’t realise that they are addicts. What smokers suffer when they try and quit using other methods is the misery and depression caused by the belief that they are being deprived of a pleasure or a crutch.

The Allen Carr Method removes this feeling of deprivation.
It removes the need and desire to smoke. Once the smoker is in the right frame of mind and they follow the simple instructions, the physical withdrawal from nicotine is hardly noticeable.

No Gimmicks!

The Method does not use any gimmicks, useless aids or substitutes. No nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, tabs, inhilators or nasal sprays! No needles! No lasers! No drugs! No herbs! No shock treatment!

The Allen Carr Method is successful because:

It removes the smokers’ conflict of will.
There are no bad withdrawal pangs.
It is instantaneous and easy.
It is equally effective for long-term heavy smokers and light smokers.
You need not gain weight.
You will not miss smoking.

Medical Endorsements

A personal view from Professor Judith Mackay MBE, JP, FRCO (Edin), FRCP (Lon), World Health Organisation Advisory Panel on Tobacco and Health

“I have no hesitation in supporting Allen Carr’s work. Many clinics use some of his techniques but it would appear that few do it in quite such a successful package.”

Carole Johnson, Coronary Heart Disease Prevention Unit, Tyne Tees

“his success rate was such that, when budgets allow, we continue to use Easyway for work with specific groups and individuals.”

Dr Anil Visa BSc, MBBch., FRCA, Consultant – Royal Hospitals NHS Trust – Royal London Hospital

“I have observed the Allen Carr method at first hand and have found it to be very successful and I wholeheartedly support it as an effective way to quit smoking.”

Dr William Green, Head of Psychiatric Dept, Matilda Hospital, Hong Kong

“It is a remarkable fact that Allen Carr, on his own admission a non-professional in behaviour modification, should have succeeded where countless psychologists and psychiatrists holding postgraduate qualifications have failed, in formulating a simple and effective way to stop smoking.”

Dr Martin Jarvis, Principle Scientist, Imperial Cancer Research
Fund and Reader in Health Psychology, University College London

”...I am more than happy to testify to Allen Carr’s enduring involvement and to recognise the value of the kind of behavioural and cognitive support he provides.”

Dr PM Bray MB CH.b., MRCGP

“I was really impressed by the method. In spite of the Allen Carr organisation’s success and fame, there were no gimmicks and the professional approach was something a GP could readily respect. I would be happy to give a medical endorsement of the method to anyone.”

Celebrity Endorsements

-His method is absolutely unique, removing the dependence on cigarettes, while you are actually smoking. I’m pleased to say it has worked for many of my friends and staff.”
Sir Richard Branson

“Some friends of mine who had stopped using Allen Carr’s method suggested I tried it. I did. It was such a revelation that instantly I was freed from my addiction. Like those friends of mine, I found it not only easy but unbelievably enjoyable to stay stopped.”
Sir Anthony Hopkins

GOOD LUCK!mind over matter. Will power, I heard. Puff puffI was also trying to quit, and here is something I found quite by accident. As I went on a boat ride, I took one of those over-the-counter sea-sickness or motion-sickness tablets. Well, I found that something about having this drug in my system caused cigarettes to taste incredibly horrible. I having been taking a couple of the pills every day and no longer have a desire to smoke. I will stop soon with the medication and hope the urge does not return.Stop buying them and lighting them. Seriously. You have to have will power and just stop doing it. There is no guaranteed way to stop. Only your own will power. Make the decision to stop and stick to it. It will be difficult at first but you can do it. Good luck.Only one way I-m aware of. Smoking is more addictive to most people than Heroin. Most of those who have quit will admit they still want to light up. My father, and many others who I-ve told this true story to, have quit, by waiting another five minutes before lighting up. Sometimes, he felt especially strong, and he-d say he-d wait an hour. Other times, he felt weak, so he would wait a minute. Almost every time, he stopped feeling like having one, before the time was up. When it wasn-t, he would wait another minute, which always seemed to work.stop it little by little, replace ur cigerate with some mints sweet or herbal sweet or gum. get busy and do more excercise.Exercise more...chew gum, and keep busy. Not being smart but don-t light it up. Throw the ones away that you have and don-t buy anymore.Quitting smoking is extremely difficult. The withdrawl makes us not want to, but we know the risks and we know that they are not worth it. For anyone who wants to end their nicotine addiction, check out www.stopsmokingcleveland.com. This is the MOST effective method on the market. It is 86% effective and the details of the program are on the website (no signing up or submitting your information).

I tried this program and it changed my life.find a reason, dont quit just bcause u want to but find the reason which is inevitable if u dont quit smoking. U will quit as soon as u find that reasonI just quit 3 weeks ago. Try acupuncture, it worked for me. Google stop smoking and your area and search for acupuncture. It still is hard sometimes, but willpower will get you through it. Acupuncture works, and I paid $200 for 3 sessions, and that is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a bunch of cigarettes.stop buyingbeing strong with what you realy wantprayer to who ever you pray to and believe you are going to quit. That-s the only way. Faith.cold turkey its called will power drink lots of water and eat when you have cravings and keep busycold turkeyRun it under water.

Stopped smoking pot amp; finding it hard 2 eat, why? -

Stopped smoking pot amp; finding it hard 2 eat, why? -

i was looking for info on it but found somebody else saying the opposite that they pig out when they stop.

i had to forced myself to eat soup 2 days ago.. kept eatting a bit and putting it back and eatting a bit more later.. end of the day n i ate about half of the bowl of soup.. could only handle a couple spoon fulls @ a time.

yesterday was a bit better.. i tried to start eating solid food again forced myself to eat about the same amount as i did the soup the day prior(half bowl)..

today i had a pear w/ my left over half bowl of solids from yesterday 4 lunch - finished it all in about 2 hours - plan on trying to eat more later.

just wondering what factors come into play that determine if you willl eat a lot or if you will have trouble eatting? or if you can have any control over it..I-ve been through the same thing...and at first its going to be hard..first and foremost when the THC are in your system it heightens your sensations hence increasing your blood flow making your digestive system more functionable. When you stop smoking weed for a period longer than a day, your body will be require less food because your blood is not flowing as it shud be therefore your stomach capacity is reduced.

You will be able to eat small portions but get full quicker. Followed by intense hunger that will be satisfied by a surprisingly small amount of food. The best bet for you is to eat smaller portions more frequently and work your self up back to your normal appetite.it just depends on your metabolism and how your body handles change. For your case, your body works differently without running on the harmful influences that pot can make to it.
i don-t know if this answer was sufficient enough, but just keep working at it.
you will probably not be able to eat the same way you ever did again, but you can get close.

just make sure you stay off weed or pot so your body can get used to NOT having it in it-s metabolism to deal with.
Have you ever thought about this: You may have a problem with your stomach. The way pot works is it is an anti-inflammatory and it works on the brain. If you have a problem that causes your stomach to swell and you smoke pot, you-ll think that your stomach is not swollen and you-ll eat and eat and eat . . . But, you know it also may be true that you eat more if you quit, but the same thing is true with cigarettes. Your stomach is filled with smoke when you smoke and when you quit, your stomach is not filled with smoke anymore.I found the same with myself actually. Pot makes you have the munchies constantly so you are eating most of the time when you are high. I think personally it throws things out of wack so when you do stop smoking your body has to get used to things once more. Just eat what you can for now and you will find that soon you will be able to eat normally once again. At least It did for meI used to have the same problems when i ran out of weed. I completely lost my appetite and was usually nauseous especially after forcing some food down. I think it might be because of how weed eases nausea and causes the munchies. Your just going to have to deal with it for a while bro.
Wierd thing is there more i smoked sh*tpiles in a short time and then had to stopp the less noticeable the symptoms were(well exept the desire to smoke)
ANyway good luck and good job on kickin the habitIts because the pot was making you want to eat and now you have stopped your urge to eat has gone,id say to you dont think about food or try to eat and then you will want to eat again, most of this is in your head so the best thing to do is not stress about it and think of your most favorite food you will soon get hungary againWhen you smoke pot regularly your eating habits change. So when you stop then it is only natural that they change then as well. I know if I didn-t smoke it I would eat so much less. Same thing with liquor for me. Don-t know....go to google type in -how does pot effect eating habits?- see if you find anything. Hope this helped!you must have smoked a shitton of weed dude.

just drink a lot of water (more than you think) and take some niacin pills (found by the vitamins etc. in like walmart) to kick-start your metabolism. you-ll be fine dude.I hear ya. I may not have to force feed myself, but i do notice that my appetite is low on the days that i don-t smoke.Maybe your body is not used to -getting hungry- on it-s own. And your taste buds are not heightened anymore. Try some caffeine, that should get your hunger going....it does mine.start smoking pot again dumbassguess your body isn-t used to artificial munchie cravings anymore. it needs time to readjust. lolbecause when your stoned it gives you the munchies and it makes anything taste 100% betterNever heard of that before.Be grateful that thus far this is the only side-effect. Best of luck man.Maybe you should quit METH too. Hope this helps.withdrawal from a drug is going to be unique for each individual.
