All opinions on it please!YES YES YES YES YES
I read it when i was about 20. I didnt stop then - but what he said always stuck with me! I gave up for two weeks straight after....
I then wanted to try again so got the book and kept it around from the age of 22. I eventually gave up when I was 23.
The things he says are great and he changes your way of thinking about smoking - things like
-I-m not giving up smoking-
What exactly are you -giving up-?
You will instead become a non-smoker, your not giving up anything. Just by changing the fact you say i-m a non-smoker changes the whole concept from -giving up-
There are loads of little things he says that stick with you. And these little tips and points completely tear down any logic to smoking.
The energy you will find from not smoking is quite impressive you will channel this energy into something and make it constructive...
this is no joke... once you give up smoking you know that you can achieve anything you want to, and that is a FACT.
I smoked 20 a day for 5 yrs and loved cigarettes but since i read his book i questioned what i was doing more and more as time went on.
I went thru scheduled periods of abstinence when i was giving up as i knew it was a stupid thing to do - each day i would challenge myself to go an hr longer without a benson(cig) - i just had to think about what he had said - and there will come a euphoric moment when u feel u can do it and u know u can and u can just become a non-smoker.
To this day i still feel I like i havent -given up- but am simply someone who has the free will and the strength to CHOOSE not to smoke. Cos you have the power!!!!
If this sounds in any way preachy - v v v sorry. The book isnt at all its absolutely fantastic and written from a smokers point of view - he just really rips the whole idea of smokin in to tiny pieces and shits on it.I didnt read it sorry but I just wanted to tell you that I stopped smoking three weeks ago and have not looked back. I feel so much better already. Guess I just needed to pick the right time to stop for me and off I go..... good luck if you are thinking of doing it too.I picked up Jimmys Carrs book by mistake, I reckon theres a lot more jokes in it. Hasn-t helped me give up the fags thoughThis book is epic - I haven-t had a cigerette since November 18th 2006. Follow his instructions and you can-t fail. I read it a few times previously, and quit for about 6 months each time, then started again after breaking his rules - i.e. having a reefer which kickstarted the nicotine addiction again. Bottom line is this book makes quitting really easy, fun, and i guaruantee you-ll feel millions better after quitting - especially of you-re into sports.I have read it and it didnt work for me, he repeats everything over and over again and it gets so boring. You have to be 100% ready to quit otherwise your fail.
Good Luck
If you want to give up you should be able 2 just stop and not look back.My boyfriend read it and gave up - 7 months now, he swears by it!nope. got the book and dvd to go with it but it never helped.
i did however, give up 3 months ago with the aid of nicotine patches. they were fantastic.i ended up smoking the book.......forget books and gimmicks.....sit there and smoke 37 smokes in a row, we will see how you feel about smoking after youve done this.
PS ...now im hooked on smoking booksi stopped smoking with this book - but you have to do as it says. my boufriend didn-t stop though! the more i got through the book the more disgussting smoking seems, and as i got to the end i didnt even want to smoke! i do smke when im drunk though!Alan Carr - Stop smoking - did the book help anyone stop? -

Pal: You can have a major coronary and die on the table: Have six bypasses then make your decision. Or, you can just take that damn pack that you can-t afford anyway and toss it away and toss out the lighter too, to show you mean it.
It isn-t easy, you-ll be climbing the walls let me Tell you. six weeks down the line you-ll want one but you know what, your body will be clean. You know you-ll be healthy, so don-t start if you have, stop if you have,Have you tried the patch?COLD TURKEY! i smoked for 10 yrs and on sept 11,2002 i decided to quit. now i have NO URGE to smoke ever. even when i drink. its wierd to think i was even a smoker. My husband used to be a chain smoker and never could stop. One day he decided he-d had ENOUGH and just simpley STOPPED. No more cigarrettes at all. He smashed and flushed the rest of what he had and wouldn-t even hang out with his friends who smoked so that he wasn-t tempted by it anymore. It-s been years now and he-s finally okay to be around people who smoke and he wants NOTHING to do with it! yay! And good thing he quit when he did cuz his lungs repaired themselves with no cancer or anything!
Anyway, he says to -quit cold turkey- as they say. Just stop. Of you try quittin one at a time or over a prolonged period of time you will relapse more often and it will only take longer.
He quit in one day and then just bought LOTS AND LOTS of gum and chewed it ALLLLL the time. It-s not cool to smoke and chew gum at the same time so he MADE SURE he always had gum in his mouth! And not the sugary kind.
anyway,
good luck!Stop buying matches.i was a smoker for over 30 yrs and i had tried everything that they have just told you to try, but none of that worked for me, i found this product online called 7 day smoke away, and believe you me, it worked!!!!! after just 7 days, thats right 7 days, i was totally smoke free, i had a few cravings the first week, but nothing i couldnt handle, and i have now been smoke free for over 2 years.depending on how long you have been smoking, the damage may not be too bad, for me most of the damage is now permanant and i have to live on oxygen and pills and treatments for the rest of my life.good luck to you and try the smoke away, it really is a miracle, but make sure you follow all the directions and do exactly what it says. The absolute key to giving up smoking is how you feel and think about it. If you feel like your missing out, deprived or that you have -lost- a part of your identity it will be much, much harder in fact probably impossible.
A previous person said their husband stopped being around friends who smoked. This might sound drastic (you don-t have to cut them out of your life altogether if they-re nice people!) but keeping away from them when they smoke is important. It stops you being exposed to triggers - reminders to smoke; times, places, certain events - prevents you feeling resentful about missing out.
It might seem silly to have those feelings but many smokers do. Once I acknowledged them and decided to change my attitude to smoking I gave up and haven-t smoked since. I had uncomfortable physical symptoms for about a week but nothing more drastic than a mild chill. The benefits have been huge both health wise and financially. Oh and I don-t smell horrible any more.yo easy does it big fella. nobody likes a quitterAll gave good answers. For more tips go to www.philipmorrisusa.com under Quiting.Hi,
I-m constanly now being asked -How Do I Stop Smoking?-
I really emphathise with you, I quit my 20 a day habit in a pain-free way!
No stress, no cravings, no weight gain, no pills, patches or gums.
The program I followed was recommended by a friend and now boasts a 90% success rate and is 100% fully guaranteed - can-t say fairer than that
