i-m a kid and my mum smokes a lot and i really want her to quit, but i don-t know how to make her. help!
thanks :)You cannot make someone do something that they do not want to do. All you can do is keep reminding her that she is shortening her life and you want her around for graduations, marriage, children, etc. and if she keeps smoking, she won-t be there. You have to keep this personal, not what is best for her, otherwise she will just tune you out. Also, stopping smoking is very, very hard for most people. They need the assistance of their physician, some medication and taking a stop-smoking class in order to be successful. Someday, maybe she will be ready. You could try recommending nicotine patches, gum, lozenges or inhalers which will assist with cutting back and then quitting altogether. You can buy the patches etc from your pharmacy. It might also be a good idea if you found some educational books/magazine on the effects of smoking and what it does to your lungs and drop hints so she will have a look. It takes a long time to break the habit, and only your mum can make that final decision.she can-t smoke if she doesn-t HAVE any smokes...
take them away.
but if u wanna be less rash, sit her down and tell her how much it bothers you, MAKE her understand and come to an agreement. Smoking is extremely unhealthy for both the smoker and those around them, particularly children; but you knew that already ;-)i should just keep pestering her to like when u wont something (also maby try removing like a couple of smokes out of her packet so she has less to smoke) but be carefull dont get caughtYou dont. How can i get my mum to stop smoking? -

im committed to stop smoking can anyone help give me some pointers?I quit cold turkey... the first few days were the hardest... especially when driving and after eating. I ate alot of hard candy and chewed up a pen tops like crazy... Every time i got the urge for a cigerette i-d find something else to do and take my mind off it... after a while the urges went away... its been over 2 years now since i quit and occasionally someone elses cigerette smells so good... but most of the time it stinks! You can do it if you are truly ready... i made several unsuccessful attempts but when i was truly ready to quit it happened... Good luck!Getting support from your friends and family is very important. Ask your smoking friends to not light up around you. Be strong, I did it cold turkey with support. Plus I really WANTED to quit. My dad tries and fails, but he makes excuses like stress and celebration, so he obviously doesn-t want to stop. You can do it!read the book I Can Stop it helped me I-ve been quit for 21 yearscancelingdrink salt water yull get the nasty tastes from that instead of being stupid and poluting ur mouth with s h i tGood on ya for quitting :)
For some pointers, you can try calling 13 QUIT - the government anti-smoking line, they can give you some advice on how to kick the habit.
You can also try the Nicorette patch or chewing gums if you don-t want to go cold turkeyThis is not a cure-all but,

Hope this helps!I went to my doctor and asked for Wellbutrin. After being on it for 8 days, I quit smoking and have been smoke free for 6 days. The Wellbutrin has stopped all my cravings. You can use the nicotine gum if needed but I haven-t had to use them at all because I haven-t had any cravings since the 8th day. I would recommend Wellbutrin. Some insurances will not pay for meds related to getting of cigarettes (mine doesn-t) but since this med is also used for other things my insurance paid for it. I wish you the best in quitting. How to stop smoking? -

you had trouble breathing, you stopped smoking and now you don-t have trouble breathing - that-s amazing, i have never heard of anything like that before, could it be that smoking affects your respiratory system? you should tell people about that, call the local news.yes quitting smoking is the biggest factor of this miracle it takes a strong will to quit those 2 habits I quit drinking 2.5 yrs ago myself after drinking every day of the week for 16 yrs, I don-t miss it a bit congratulations on your success story.Well,
I used to have asthma and it just disappeared as I got older.. so maybe that sort of thing has happened with you.
I hope that this helps,
This is my first answer for a question aha :)Were you actually diagnosed with Asthma? You could have had allergic reactions to the smoke and alcohol chemicals. The symptoms are very similar to asthma.im sure you got rid of your asthma when your turned your health around. yay! you can out grow asthmaone smoking can cause you to have them because it shortens your breathing. also doing karate and stuff like that helps lung capasityNice plug from the anti smoking campaign. I admire what you are doing, but people rarely ever do what is in their best interest.I stopped smoking/drinking 3 yrs ago.I used to have regular asthma attacks, now nothing, not even one? -
